After graduation, Emily moved home to Vancouver Island, fell in love, was married to James, and began offering her floral services to any one who would take them. In Autumn 2013, James and Emily moved to Chilliwack, BC where Emily spent the year working closely with the owner/florist of another shoppe all the while designing weddings for family and friends on the side. Another year later and another move landed them in Lethbridge, AB and it is in Lethbridge where Petal & Stem found its name and came to publicly be in Autumn 2018.
Emily’s first exposure to floral design was helping a florist friend with a wedding she was designing, circa 2010. Call it an ‘ah ha’ moment, when Emily instantly fell in love with the work. When Emily returned to university, after that summer home, she found employment in a quintessential flower shop in Old Town Chicago. There she learned how to arrange bouquets and the many names of the flowers she was working with.
Over the past four years, Emily has designed over 150 weddings, countless wrapped bouquets and arrangements, holiday wreaths and collaborative projects. With three elementary aged children, Emily works from home and splits her time between parenting and designing. With the recent addition of a dedicated studio in 2022, family is even closer while designing.

I would recommend Petal and Stem over and over. Emily was patient with me, made a beautiful proposal, and created the most stunning florals for our wedding. She uses high quality flowers and her artistic skill in putting together flowers is abundantly apparent. Just gorgeous.
